The Graphic Designer will advise, design, and create the Department's visual material to ensure that the, sometimes dull, corporate material is sparkly and interesting This includes the usual corporate documents, but also infographics, some cool illustrations, logos, promotional material, a few photos, and other design activities.

Ngā kawenga | About the role
The Graphic Designer works alongside a Senior Graphic Designer to provide design advice, and specialist services to support the delivery of the Corrections' strategic goals and initiatives.

**Role accountabilities of the Graphic Designer include**:

- The creation and design of engaging and accurate promotional material and collateral based on internal client requirements.
- Using creativity, ideas and problem-solving skills to create visual concepts using design methodologies and principles.
- Collaborate with the Senior Graphic Designer to help give design advice on efficient graphic communication for various visual mediums as needed, as appropriate for each project
- Create visual content for internal stakeholders, website (internal and external), corporate documents, infographics, videos, social and other media.
- Work across a wide range of media, e.g. print, web, animation, photography and video editing.
- Assist with communication between print vendors regarding file preparation.
- Maintain compliance and evolve the Corrections brand guidelines regarding design layout, brand consistency, logo, collateral, forms and other documentation.
- Collaboration throughout the design process by ensuring consultation with Communications team and other stakeholders throughout the design and post-production process.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
- Can expertly use relevant software and technology to its full capacity e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe CC Suite (mainly InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Photoshop with some ability to use video editing software like Premier Pro and After Effects).
- Able to analytically look at design work from the point of view of the client or stakeholder to ensure it conveys the client/stakeholders(s) desired message.
- Creative and artistic ability to create work that is interesting and unique and follows a new approach of communicating an idea whilst meeting the client's expectations.
- Strong oral communications and interpersonal skills.
- Able to write clear, concise and persuasive proposals and reports.
- Ability to manage a diverse portfolio of tasks to a high standard.
- Understands brand identity and the limitations of design within the brand.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
The mid-point of the salary range is $78,130. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
