Senior Structural Engineer

In this role you will be a Senior Structural Engineer within the Mott MacDonald Building’s team in New Zealand. You will represent the Group at project level, taking responsibility for the design, documentation, and delivery of projects. You will also be ambassadors for the Group within the market and have an ability to develop relationships with Clients, Architects, and other key collaborators. - Along with being responsible for the technical quality on projects that you lead, you will also check the accuracy of the work from other team members. This role will involve mentoring and development of junior members of the team.- This role will see you: - Act as a Project Engineer on projects of various sizes, while supervising a small team of engineers and technicians - Agree design philosophy/design fundamentals. - Review and comment on deliverables produced by Engineers & Technicians at key stages through a project. - Have knowledge of concept design, detailed design, construction techniques, procurement routes, risk assessment and claim assessment - Responsible for the quality and accuracy of their own work. - Be familiar with agreed fees/scope of services/programme. - Manage project resources/programme. - Attend design team/site meetings. - Liaise and correspond day to day with design team/contractor. - Responsible for development and production of drawings/calculations/specifications/reports - Develop an ability in delivery in the 3D, BIM and Digital engineering environment. - Construct project teams from internal and external resources. - Your experience will include: - Minimum of 5 years’ experience, and ideally chartered status - A quality portfolio of major projects that you are proud to describe - Varied building engineering experience with an in-depth understanding of structural behaviour - An ability to represent the practice at project level and to take responsibility for projects. - An ability to manage the design and construction stages of a project. - Experience in numerous large-scale projects (>$50m in value). - You will also be able to display- A desire to delight - Self-motivation, a willingness to learn, adapt and excel - An interest in the ‘story’ of engineering projects - An understanding of the importance of relationships and begin to build relationships with consultants from other organisations. - Confidence in your engineering ability, such as to be able to mentor others - In depth understanding of New Zealand building standards and regulations - In return we offer you the opportunity to build a dynamic career and make the world you love.
