Data Engineering and SAS Administration positions available

We have multiple positions available and are looking for people with skillsets within the SAS Platform Administration and/or Data Engineering space.

The Evidence-Based Policing Service Centre sits within Insights and Deployment Group; the purpose of the Evidence-Based Policing (EBP) Centre is to embed an evidence-based approach into all operations of Police. By using information, crime-science and problem-solving methods we ensure that proven approaches and tactics guide our work, are seen in the results, and provide confidence that what we do works. EBP is a critical function to support the organisation in realising its opportunity to be the best Police service and deliver on Our Business.

**Data Engineering**:
**Experience**:

- Experience in ETL, Data Engineering, Scripting.
- Knowledge and experience in end-to-end project delivery, either traditional SDLC or agile delivery methodologies (or hybrid approaches)
- Experience in a delivery role on Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, Big Data or analytics projects
- Exceptional communication, documentation and presentation skills and stakeholder management experiences
- Experience in business intelligence, data warehousing/platform, and data strategy projects

**Requirements**:

- At least 5 years’ experience as a SAS Engineer with experience in development and maintenance support.
- Experience with SAS BASE, Enterprise Guide (EG), Event Stream Processing (ESP), Visual Analytics (VA), Viya platforms (VI and VA) and Data Integration (DI) are required
- Minimum 2yrs experience in dealing large data sets in Greenplum / Hadoop / Oracle / DB2
- Dashboarding experience with tableau / power BI / SAS VA is desirable
- Experience in shell /batch scripting
- Application packaging and deployment experience across DEV to PROD environments
- Experience in maintenance reporting and managing change / service requests.

**Preferable**:

- Experience in engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Consulting experience and background, including engaging directly with clients
- Degree in Computer Science or IT or Business Analytics
- Experience in Python, R, Snowflake and Azure.

**SAS Administration**:
Within the SAS Platform Administration space we are looking for someone who will be responsible for the administration and performance of the SAS platform at NZ Police. The SAS administrator will work to ensure the optimal performance of the SAS Platform, in accordance with business requirements and Police’s security accreditation.

The SAS administrator will also work across NZ Police to provide the business with the necessary support to utilise existing in-house databases, undertake data integration and data processing (across a range of databases), enable and support data analytics within the SAS environment, and automate these processes. As such, the SAS administrators core role will be to support the business in its production of business intelligence and performance reporting. The SAS administrator must have good communication, documentation and presentation skills, and must be proficient at supporting both technical and non-technical clients.

The SAS administrator will be required to undertake performance and maintenance tasks, supporting incident and disaster recovery, and establish best practice guidelines for users of the SAS platform at NZ Police. The SAS administrator will be the lead liaison with SAS Technical Support and IT infrastructure support teams.

**Responsibilities**:

- Executes all actions necessary to achieve and maintain optimum SAS platform performance, reliability and availability.
- Administers, implements, and maintains SAS platform security.
- Provides the business with support to utilise existing in-house databases, undertake data integration and data processing, enable and support data analytics within the SAS environment, and automate SAS processes.
- Supports the business in its production of business intelligence and performance reporting.
- Point of contact for all SAS Administrator related projects and activities.
