Tēnei tūranga - About the Role New Zealand Government Procurement branch within Building Resources and Markets is currently undergoing a reform project, with data and transparency as a key aspect of the project. We are looking for a Data Scientist to help us achieve our key goals of increased transparency and data driven decision making across the procurement system.
We are looking for a Data Scientist to join Enabling Services.
**The Data Scientist will**:
- Presenting analyses and / or modelling outputs to tell a clear and succinct story to clients.
- Advance forecasting of revenue generated through our AoG contracts.
- Proficient in SQL scripts, data mapping and building data pipelines for ingestion, storage, or modelling requirements.
- Help develop Performance Indicators for the procurement system.
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimising data delivery, and evolving current solutions whilst ensuring continuity of service.
- Mentoring and developing junior team members.
Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required - Competent in the use of data querying, analytical and modelling tools, preferably both SQL and R
- Experienced in using advanced analytic methods to conduct complex analyses of large amounts of data
- Experienced in working across multiple analysis disciplines and processes
- Experienced in using analytics modelling or statistical analysis for forecasting revenue
- Capable of translating complex and technical information into information easily understood by non-technical staff
- Professionally active and aware of recent developments in methodologies and practices
- Experience in visualisation tools including Power BI is advantageous
- Able to build productive working relationships
- Able to understand and process new information quickly
- Have excellent organisational and time management skills
