**About the role | Ko te mahi nei**

As a Senior Code Compliance Assessor, you'll support the Code Compliance team and team leader to ensure public safety and building compliance by using consistent and effective decision-making while managing risk and liability. You'll be a key contributor to team performance by driving process improvements, encouraging efficiency, and creating space for innovative thinking. Some responsibilities include:

- Ensuring buildings within the Christchurch community are in accordance with the Building Act 2004 and associated regulations, the Local Government Act 2002, and the Resource Management Act 1991.
- Providing training, mentorship, and coaching for Code Compliance Assessors to support their professional development and confidence.
- Championing continuous improvement initiatives—seeking ways to streamline workflows, improve quality outcomes, and foster a culture of excellence through collaboration, creativity, and care.

You take pride in delivering high-quality outcomes, and you're not afraid to challenge the status quo when something could be done better. Your approach balances compliance with a people-first mindset, and you're passionate about helping those around you grow. To be successful you will have:

- A relevant tertiary qualification (NZQA Level 6) or equivalent within the building and/or compliance industry.
- Experience within a Building Consent Authority, Territorial Authority, or similar environment in New Zealand.
- A strong understanding of the New Zealand Building Code and compliance documentation across a range of construction projects.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and support others.
- A mindset focused on solutions, systems-thinking, and continuous improvement.
