Our Transport Services business is a market leader, shaping and influencing the future of New Zealand’s infrastructure. Incorporating more than 2,500 employees, this business covers a diverse range of services including operations and maintenance of road, rail, port and airport infrastructure, material production and manufacturing, technical services, leading research and development facilities and a large asset base including fixed and mobile assets, with revenues exceeding $800m annually.
We now have a rare opportunity for a Traffic Services Manager to join our busy team to be based in New Plymouth, covering Taranaki and Whanganui.
Using your strong leadership and mentoring skills, you’ll provide our traffic management teams with guidance, support and ensure all work is completed to the satisfaction of our customers both externally and internally.
**About the role**
You will be responsible for effectively and efficiently managing our Traffic Management business. Covering everything from operational and financial performance as well as providing leadership and direction to the TTM teams, Traffic Management Planners and Design team. Your initial focus will be around bedding down and supporting a team who has gone through significant growth in the past 12 months, and taking them on the continual growth and change journey.
You’ll also build on our capability and capacity around our ability to self-perform along with building a network of strong relationships internally and externally within the region.
Along with managing a team and operation of this size and scale, you will also be:
- Ensuring sound financial and business practices are applied to all Traffic Management services
- Allocating and monitoring and managing resources (people and plant) to deliver a consistent product to our clients
- Promoting strong collaborative customer relationships with positive interactions and value adding activities
You will draw on your collaborative approach to working within and across multi-functional teams from different parts of the business to ensure the regional success.
**About you**
As an experienced leader with the necessary traffic management qualifications, you’ll bring with you the following:
- A continual improvement mind-set and be comfortable at challenging ‘business as usual’. You’ll lift the bar and setting the standards for a high performing culture
- The ability to foster a strong team culture and sense of belonging driven from a values base
- Strong financial literacy and knowledge - you’ll know the difference between debits, credits and what side of the P&L they should sit on
- A proven track record in developing a culture that supports SQE management, encouraging and rewarding excellence
- The ability to deal with unexpected events, make decisions in a fast moving environment and provide direction to work teams
- Good verbal and written communication skills
