We are refreshing our core data platforms and data consumption tools and as a Data Technology Designer you will be pioneering the use of Power BI and these new cloud based data warehouse technologies.
We need someone who can get involved in the heart of ACC’s data capability, partnering with analysts and engineers to change the future by empowering people to make better decisions with data and insight. Someone who can work with data analysts guiding them to create the analysis, visualisations and data stories that drive the organisation forward by putting insight in the hands of decision makers. Also working directly with the data engineers building our core data assets in the warehouse following modern data design approaches.

This role is the ideal opportunity for a forward thinking, ambitious and experienced professional to join ACC at a time of transformational change. Someone who has exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to form strong relationships and influence across different stakeholder levels, with a proven track record in influencing outcomes through the use of data or technologies.
**In this role you will**:
- Support and promote better access and use of data across ACC for operational reporting, performance monitoring, business intelligence and advanced analytics to realise ACC's strategic goal to become an intelligence led organisation
- Enable the uplift in ACC’s use of data through strong communication and support of stakeholders directly and via ACC’s evolving Analytics Community of Practice
- Support the evolution of an operating model for analytical support from the centre with flexibility to respond to the growing demand for agile data services and products
- Provide the Analytics Community of Practice with training, resources, communications, and services to mature the use of data consumption tools at ACC while meeting ACC’s data governance policies
- Promote the use of data visualisation, self-service, and BI to increase access, use and leverage of data to increase data-driven innovation and decision-making across ACC
**What you’ll need to be successful**
- Experience in consultation, training, and communication of best practices in a BI role
- 5 years’ experience delivering business intelligence, analytics or reporting products using advancing techniques in data ingestion and shaping, modelling and analysis to build actionable and interactive dashboards
- Practical experience with data modelling methodologies such as star schema design and advanced SQL techniques. Experience with slow changing dimensions and complex data models and understanding of common data quality treatments
- Direct experience with SQL to extract data to build new reports, maintain data refresh flows and extract information for investigative and prototyping work
- Experience in extracting and shaping input data, simplifying data structures and modelling input data for subsequent analysis
- Practical experience designing and deploying complex data models that are intuitive, high performing and simple to maintain involving data integrated from multiple sources.
- Strong technical knowledge and experience with visualisation design and the ability to coach users with advanced functions of Power Query, Power BI. DAX, Tabular Editor. This includes the ability to select and configure data visuals to tell a compelling story with data, and the optimisation of star schema in Power BI imported data assets
- Able to identify the correct data grain for performance and usability and use standard calculated measures
- Able to implement row level security and can protect controlled data fields within novel data sets
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to form strong relationships and influence across multiple stakeholders
- Exemplary written and communication skills and practical experience in influencing strategic outcomes with data storytelling
- Familiarity with agile methodologies would be beneficial

The salary range for this role is $134,001 to $189,178 + 9% superannuation. Starting salary will depend on skills and experience of the successful applicant.
