**The Opportunity**:
As the commercial & planning analyst, you will be supporting the commercial & planning team within the directorate in terms of strategic priorities and decision making by providing reporting, insights and analysis at an advanced level. You will also be working with stakeholders to ensure we are providing a high level of service.

This role is part of the Regional Transport Connections directorate, which is responsible for delivering on the council’s transport connections strategic priority and the council’s functions under the Land Transport Management Act - because connected communities are stronger.

**Qualifications**:

- A clean and current driver’s licence.

**What we’re looking for**:

- A high level of technical capability - ETL processes, and advanced skills in programming languages including python, sql and data visualization tools.
- At least 3 years’ experience in insights, analytics and reporting in a complex planning / S&Op / supply chain area using large datasets.
- Front-end business facing experience and the ability to lead initiatives with stakeholder groups and initiate recommendations.
- Advanced critical thinking skills.
- Hands on experience with planning software - could be ERP (MPS / MRP) or custom developed.
- Advanced excel skills.

**About the role:
As the analyst, you will join the Commercial and Planning team to support the public transport network for the Waikato Region. Combining technical skills with a stakeholder and supplier focus, the role will be varied and could include any of the following:

- Timetabling, scheduling & optimization.
- Market analysis.
- Developing business cases.
- Monitoring project costs / finance info.
- Process automation.
- Supplier monitoring / SLA development.
- Initial set up of our data capability & functions.
