Our client is a well-established NZ owned contract manufacturer of herbal and nutritional products for the local and international markets. With a recent acquisition by a new owner, their facility in Hawke’s Bay is on a new path of growth and development. As such, they are looking for a Production Engineer to join their small but growing team to help drive this growth. **This position is based in Hastings**.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this is a broad-based role where you will be looking after a range of engineering responsibilities including:
- Providing engineering support to the production and quality teams
- Optimising and troubleshooting and implementing improvements
- Facilitating the tech transfer of products into the production facility
- Oversee preventative and reactive maintenance
This is a role that will suit a highly motived young engineer, possibly with a Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology or similar tertiary qualification, who is keen to develop their range of engineering and project management skills within a regulated environment. To be considered, you’ll need to have a positive attitude, great communication skills, a practical technical/engineering background, and be willing to put in the hard yards to develop your experience under the guidance of an experienced Operations Manager.
- An appropriate qualification in engineering and/or technology OR mechanical trade with food/dairy/pharma operations experience
- At least 2 years experience in project or process engineering work within a food/diary/nutraceutical or pharmaceutical industry
- Proven ability to identify, manage and complete projects on time and to budget
- A good understanding of CAPEX’s, purchasing contracts and tendering processes
- Excellent communication (written, verbal and presentation) skills
- Well developed interpersonal skills
