The Burwood Hospital Psychology department is looking for a
Psychologist to join colleagues working predominantly in the interdisciplinary
team of the Burwood Hospital Pain Management Centre.
As a NZ registered Psychologist, with relevant post graduate
Diploma, this position provides the opportunity to work with people who have
chronic pain and frequently an array of other factors affecting their
wellbeing. We work as a team to help
patients reclaim areas of function in their lives that are impacted as a result
of chronic pain. You will help patients
(and their whanau) to develop strategies to manage symptoms and
rehabilitate. The patient population our
team serves spans a wide age range, from diverse ethnic and social backgrounds.
Such diversity provides a stimulating mix of familiar and novel clinical issues
and challenges.

**The Role**: Where you fit in;
Bring your experience working with individuals and groups
delivering education, biopsychosocial assessment and evidence based
psychological therapies. As well as
individual and group-based patient care, you will be a key participant in an interdisciplinary
team, providing the vital psychological perspective at Monday afternoon
meetings, and in treatment planning.
Training and or experience in some or all of the following areas

**would be welcome**:

- Assessment and rehabilitation of people who have chronic pain or

other chronic health conditions.
- An understanding of the underlying neurobiological mechanisms
relevant to chronic pain.
- Provision of relevant psychological interventions and support to interdisciplinary
teams.
- An understanding of the key psychological processes underpinning
chronic pain conditions and chronic disability.
Ongoing supervision and support will be provided by the capable,
enthusiastic team of experienced Psychologists who work in the Burwood Hospital
Psychology Department.
