**The Opportunity**

When established way back in the 1980s this meat processing company was ahead of its time, adopting leading edge innovations that has enabled it to remain a highly successful operation for 40 years. With its eyes firmly on the future the company is positioning itself to be successful for the next 40 years This role will play an important part in making this goal a reality.

**The role**

As Production Manager for the Lamb Department you will be responsible for leading a 170 strong team working across two shifts. Your accountabilities will include:

- **Safety** - your number one priority, ensuring the right assets are in place to keep your team safe and plant meets all compliance requirements.
- **Staff **- recruiting retaining talent; organising, engaging, leading and them towards personal success and the delivery of business goals.
- **Quality **- managing product quality at each stage of the process and identifying opportunities for improvement; enforcing hygiene / sanitation standards to achieve both internal and external customer expectations.
- **Cost **- understand the cost drivers and effectively manage your department without incurring additional cost to the plant.
- **Process** - effectively deploy processes, equipment and people to deliver specified product at highest yield and optimal cost.
- **Continuous Improvement** - identifying and eliminating waste in processing by using Lean Manufacturing methods and creative problem-solving techniques.

**Skills and attributes**

We seek:

- A relevant qualification or at least 5 year’s industry management experience.
- Verifiable management experience within the meat processing, manufacturing or process engineering industries.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Manufacturing Processes, Safety, Quality Management Systems and Environmental Management Systems.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to identify, train and retain talent.
- Demonstrated knowledge of lean principles and/or Six Sigma methodology.
- Strong business acumen - able to interpret and proactively use data when making decisions, and be aware of commercial consequences.
- A smart, dynamic self-starter with strong influencing skills, exceptional interpersonal and problem solving skills and the ability to get others on board with new ways of thinking and doing.
