We have multiple full-time permanent opportunities for Senior Technicians to join our Forensic Biology laboratory, based at our Mount Albert Science Centre in Auckland.

**In this role, you will be involved in**:

- Providing technical assistance to Forensic Scientists in the examination of biological samples for forensic purposes, which may include the extraction, quantitation, amplification, and analysis of DNA from crime scene/casework, databank and reference samples.
- Assisting with the day-to-day running of the DNA Databank and Reference and/or the Casework Laboratory workstream.
- Conducting laboratory tests including DNA/RNA extraction, quantitation and/or PCR.
- Performing testing required for clients, which may include forensic casework testing.
- Maintaining laboratory equipment and stock levels of reagents and consumables.
- Supervising laboratory assistants, technicians or students.

**To be successful in this role you will have**:

- A relevant tertiary qualification, BA or BSc or higher, likely with Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Genetics papers.
- Previous experience with Molecular Biology techniques, including PCR.
- Appreciation of sound laboratory practice including an appreciation of the importance of the development of standard operating procedures.
- Computer literacy.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety practice, biological and chemical hazards.
