**Job Description**:
**Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role**
The primary focus of the Network Engineer is to work with our architecture and Customer Tech team to manage technical changes, monitor and manage capacity for Contact’s WAN, LAN and wireless networks. As a high-level overview of the position, you’ll get involved with;
- Oversee the provisioning, installation, operation, upgrading of data and voice communication networks.
- Provide technical support, problem diagnosis and troubleshooting to projects and ICT support as required in association with Network & Firewall equipment and services.
- Analyse and profile network traffic data and provide recommendations on performance improvements to Network & Firewall infrastructure as appropriate.
- Approver of Firewall changes in the Contact Technical change process.
- Mentor and develop the knowledge of networking within the Cloud & Infrastructure and wider Customer Technology team.
- Consult and advise with Generation Engineers and Control system technicians in the optimal build and management of networks

For us, we’re not just seeking a seasoned operator who has real world experience, but someone who enjoys being the go-to person to solve business & technical problems in a collaborative manner. In this modern way of working, you’ll be comfortable using technology to achieve outcomes where ever you may live in New Zealand. Your background should include;
- Appropriate/relevant qualifications (CCNA Professional or similar)
- Real world commercial experience in Enterprise Networks
- Detailed technical expertise in IT and Network engineering with operational knowledge of LAN’s and WAN’s, switches, firewalls, routers and protocols.
- Knowledge of industry standards relevant to data communications/networking.
- Skills in network problem analysis, and diagnosis and in co-ordinating teams from multiple vendor organisations to identify and propose appropriate resolutions.
- Experience in traffic management and profiling within WAN and LAN environments.
- Knowledge of AWS / Azure would advantegous
