Needs to be based in Wellington - Flexible working - Be involved with the past, current and future projects The DevOps Engineer’s purpose is to ensure that the software deployment pipelines, as well as the infrastructure it runs on, are operational and meet security standards. This role is for someone who embraces challenges to make sure that the business achieves its goals while ensuring that they follow the ci/cd standards and observability of our resources. My client is an AWS shop. They have a top-tier Enterprise support plan, a Technical Account Manager "on call", and plenty of architects ready to help. They use GitHub + Automations, transitioning away from Jenkins, they do Infrastructure as Code for everything, containerisation (ie. docker) is being used more and more, but they are not married to any one technology and are happy to iterate. **Experience**: - Experience in Bash, Python and AWS Services (Cloudformation, Elastic Beanstalk, WAF, Fargate and ECS to name a few) - Experience in Jenkins Infrastructure (both instance maintenance and deployment pipeline) and GitHub Actions Workflow - Experience in ci/cd standards and have a sound security operations knowledge - Strong capability with infrastructure as a code especially AWS Cloudformation - Experience in understanding customer needs and proposing solutions and services to meet these needs. - Strong empathy for the customer. - The ability to work in and adapt to a fast-paced and constantly changing environment **What does the DevOps Engineer do?** This role is responsible for the ci/cd pipelines the software development team uses and the infrastructure it runs on is operational and follows a good security standard. Specifically, that involves: - Writing and maintaining infra-code and automation scripts which meet their requirements, respect their coding style and best practices, and are easily understandable - Creating and maintaining technical documentation - Actively sharing knowledge with other dev team members - Maintaining and enhancing knowledge of relevant technologies - Considering the financial costs involved in developing our solutions (e.g. cloud, test devices, licenses etc) - Proactively and responsibly improving the quality of the code base in collaboration with the wider team - Having a keen eye on what could turn into a bottleneck, tech debt, or privacy/security issue, and raising any concerns with the Coaches
