**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

We have an important role in supporting the Crown in its relationships with Māori under te Tiriti o Waitangi | the Treaty of Waitangi. The government is committed to improving services and outcomes for Māori and strengthening the Crown's relationships with Māori.

We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process. We work in partnership with our Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu.

The Clinical Advisor is tasked with providing the senior clinical advisory and leadership function in their life course team, in partnership with Te Aka Whai Ora, to radically improve Māori Health and eliminate inequities. The Clinical Advisor has strong problem solving and systems thinking skills, including change and influence skills. They provide clinical knowledge, expertise, and leadership as, where and when required, supporting quality improvement, service development, innovation, quality assurance and business as usual activities.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā weako | Skills and experience**
- Demonstrated experience in providing advice into service design.
- Demonstrated experience in providing clinical governance across clinical services.
- Recognised as a senior clinical advisor, including participation in research and or other clinical learning environments.
- Demonstrated experience at a leadership level for developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships and partnerships across clinicians, wider sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific Peoples.
- The ability to compellingly communicate complex information and ideas in both oral and written communication to a range of audiences including senior management, Board and Ministers.

**Nau mai, uru mai | Come and join us**

When you join us, you become part of transforming the health system. This is a once in a life-time change, which will touch the lives of everyone in Aotearoa for generations.

Our name, Te Whatu Ora, means ‘the weaving of wellness'. Whatu is the combining of people, resources, organisations, thoughts and actions for the betterment and wellbeing of all. Whatu is also a direct reference to the pupil of the eye, and the vision required of the new entity and system.

We are working towards a system that better meets the complex demands of a growing population, addresses the persistent inequalities experienced by Māori and ensures improved access, experience and outcomes for those traditionally not well served by the system - Māori, Pacific and Disabled People.
