**About New Zealand Blood Service**

New Zealand Blood and Organ Service (NZBS) is dedicated to saving lives. Every year, tens of thousands of generous people donate their time, blood and plasma to us for free. In addition to our vein-to-vein service in transfusion we also provide national services in organ transplantation, cellular therapies and tissue banking. We exist to ensure the efficient delivery of safe blood and tissue products on a time critical basis throughout New Zealand and through the generosity of our donors, we are able to help save lives.

Our shared values are at the heart of our organisation's culture and guide our behaviour each and every day. These values inspire, motivate us and drive us to provide the very best service to the New Zealand public.

**The Role**:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and confident leader to join our unique organisation and help us shape the future of nursing and the clinical environment at New Zealand Blood Service. As a Charge Nurse for the Central Region, you will be leading our donation collections and therapeutic apheresis and therapeutic venesection teams in Wellington (Newtown) and Palmerston North.

This busy and rewarding role offers plenty of variety in the operational space, while actively working with our senior managers and executive team to develop and implement improvements in the way we work.

Our collections and therapeutics teams consist of various professional specialisations and different levels of experience; your leadership span will include administrative staff, Donor Technicians, Enrolled Nurses and Registered Nurses including Clinical Nurse Leaders and Clinical Coaches. These roles range from graduates to seasoned professionals.

Your day-to-day will include leadership and oversight of all regional blood collection activities across the Wellington and Manawatu regions. You will ensure efficiency, quality and compliance of operations in our Donor Centres and mobile collections, including positive donor experience, health and safety, personnel matters and providing clinical expertise to your team.

While working independently, you will be supported by a multi-disciplinary network of passionate professionals and experts in all areas of transfusion medicine. Building relationships across the organisation as well as with external stakeholders will be key to success in this role.

**About you**
- A current NZ Practising Certificate as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing Council of New Zealand or Midwifery Council of New Zealand.
- Relevant post graduate qualification or working towards this is a plus.
- At least 5 years' experience in a clinical leadership role.
- Proven track record in leading and managing a large team of nurses and other clinical staff in a regulated environment is a must.
- Experience in promoting, supporting and measuring high performance in a nursing environment.
- Experience in developing and implementing strategies for workforce sustainability and resilience.
- Strong analytical skills paired with critical thinking and the ability to take initiative to solve problems and manage conflict.
- Strong interpersonal skills with self-awareness and insight, as well as empathy and collaboration.
- Experience with structured change management is an advantage.

**What we offer**
- Opportunity to grow your leadership career in a key leadership role at NZBS in the Central Region.
- 22 days annual leave per annum (increasing to 25 days after 5 years)
- Competitive remuneration of $130,154 to $140,764 depending on skills and experience.
- Be part of shaping the future of a unique health organisation in New Zealand
- Work in a collaborative team focused on continuous improvement, quality and efficiency.
