**About Monument**:
Monument Insurance is a wholesale underwriting agency that creates bespoke Insurance products for business and organisations to provide to their customers. Monument Insurance is a related company of Crombie Lockwood and acts as an underwriting agent on behalf of IAG and Vero.

**About the role**:
With that said, we are currently looking for a
**Team Leader** to to effectively manage the day-to-day operations and performance for a team of about 6 members in our
**Onesurance Underwriting Team**. You will manage the team, underwrite and profitably grow Onesurance income for Monument via the work of the team. You will ensure risks are underwritten in accordance with our acceptance criteria and within our delegated authority limits.

**Responsibilities**:

- Manage and coach a team of underwriters to achieve operational excellence, as well as individual and team performance targets.
- Set performance expectations, assess performance, provide feedback and recognize achievements of team members.
- Foster a positive work environment and culture that promotes teamwork, innovation, and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service.
- Act as the initial referral point for complaints, technical queries, and escalations.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with your underwriting team, management, broker network and Lead Insurer.
- Achieve and maintain the highest level of underwriting service standards, ensuring all service level agreements and key performance indicators are met or exceeded.
- Ensure underwriting decisions are in line with Monument and Lead Insurer guidelines, and all underwriting files are complete and accurate.
- Identify training needs within the Onesurance team to develop technical underwriting knowledge and capabilities.
- Coach and train the underwriting team to improve/enhance their technical underwriting knowledge, understanding of our underwriting systems, and work within our delegated authority and guidelines.
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with our broker partners to ensure we are their preferred underwriting agency.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders with our Lead Insurer and other Monument teams to ensure alignment of underwriting goals and objectives.
- Ensure the Onesurance underwriting team complies with all Monument’s policies, procedures, and underwriting standards set by our Lead Insurer.
- Monitor and ensure the timely completion of all peer to peer audit requirements.
- Work with the Underwriting Operations Manager to monitor and ensure the timely completion of all facility audit requirements, including action plans and remediation items.

**Skills and experience**
- Proven ability in leadership, coaching and management of a team
- Previous experience in the insurance industry as an experienced Personal Lines underwriter
- Knowledge of Personal Lines underwriting and understanding of risk profiles
- Proven ability to build and maintain positive, constructive and honest relationships internally and externally
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to articulate and communicate concisely and effectively
- Proven knowledge of risk management principles
- Proven ability to work autonomously
- High level of motivation and self-discipline
- The ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and meet agreed deadlines
- Developing operational processes

**_ It would be beneficial if you have the following skills/experience to add:_**
- A tertiary qualification in Commerce, Financial Services, Insurance or NZQA / Insurance Industry recognized qualifications
- Held a leadership position in a previous role at Team Leader level
- Understanding of portfolio management
