The Roofing Technician will be instrumental in upholding the quality, durability, and safety of roofing projects while adhering to industry standards and safety regulations.

**Location**: Manukau City, Auckland

**Duration**: Permanent

**Approximate pay**: $30 - $35 per hour

**Responsibilities**:
Perform installations of new roofing systems on residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, utilizing a variety of roofing materials such as asphalt shingles, metal, tiles, and flat roofs.

Understanding and interpreting drawings, plans, maps, charts, specifications, and assignment instructions, executingappropriate procedures, and procuring required materials.

Removal of old roofs, installing building paper, timber purlins, iron sheets and all associated flashings and fixings.

Gutter replacements, install insulation and repairs, house washing, gutter cleaning.

Conduct thorough inspections of existing roofs to assess their condition, identify potential issues, and recommendappropriate solutions.

Adhere strictly to building codes, safety regulations, and manufacturer guidelines to ensure the safety and compliance ofall roofing projects.

Utilize and maintain equipment and tools essential for roofing work, including ladders, scaffolding, power tools, andpersonal protective gear.

Communicate effectively with clients, team members, and supervisors to provide updates on project progress, discussproject requirements, and address any concerns or inquiries.

Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and project timelines to ensure accountability andtransparency throughout the roofing process.

Collaborate closely with team members to achieve project objectives efficiently and effectively

Uphold cleanliness and organization standards at job sites to promote a safe and productive work environment.

Studying drawings, specifications and work sites to determine materials required

Erecting ladders and scaffolds

Placing and securing waterproof sheets over eaves

Nailing and stapling roofing underlay to roofs

Aligning starter rows of roofing material with edges of roofs, securing with wire, staples and nails, and overlappingsuccessive layers of tiles

Sizing and cutting roofing material to fit around vents, chimney edges, corners and ridges

Fixing edge and ridge tiles in cement mortar

Slipping roofing material under pre-fabricated flashing and nailing it down

Caulking and flashing exposed nail heads to prevent leaks

**Qualifications and Work Experience**:
NZQF Level 4 qualification

At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above. In some instances, relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.

Registration or licensing may be required.

**Technical Knowledge/Skills**:
Proficiency in handling roofing tools such as drills, hammers, snips, knives, rulers, squares, nail guns, skill saws, circular saws, as well as familiarity with software such as Google Maps and Roofer.

**Physical Requirements**:
Ability to safely attend client meetings onsite for project scoping.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift

Expected Start Date: 15/10/2024
