**Mo to m tou Ropu - About the team**

We have a unique opportunity for an exceptional Manager to join our newly formed Regulatory Practice, Licensing and Notifications leadership team. This team supports our wider Regulatory Operations Group by providing three foundational functions: regulatory practice, regulatory licensing and notifications and enquiries receipt and triage.

The 'regulatory licensing' function supports the delivery of licensing and certification for seafarers and operators, ensuring that there are efficient and effective entry and exit controls for the New Zealand maritime industry.

We are on a multi-year journey to enhance interactions with Commercial Operators and Seafarers, this includes implementing a new digital portal (MyMNZ) which will allow users to manage and track their interactions with Maritime New Zealand alongside improved regulatory practice and service delivery.

We are looking for a seasoned professional with expertise leading regulatory operational teams through large and/or complex business process and system changes which involve new digital solutions and technology. You will be a confident communicator who will provide clarity and leadership both internally and externally through periods of change, promote digital literacy and learning, and be comfortable navigating any challenges that come your way.

You will have demonstrated people leadership skills and a passion for developing others. You will have a proven track record of leading and building highly engaged teams with a safe, trusting and enabling culture, managing performance and supporting people to succeed.

To be successful in this role you'll have;
- Proven experience and knowledge of modern regulatory practice in a leadership role
- Proven experience and knowledge of leading through change with a deep understanding of change processes and tools;
- Proven experience in business or government ideally including regulatory settings that deploy digital solutions;
- Ability to network effectively in a consultative and collaborative manner, influencing and building credibility across a range of stakeholders (internal and external);
- Proven situational, organisational and political nous, with the ability to make good risk-based decisions;
- Ability to think at a system wide level and translate it into future focused deliverables.
