The **Regulatory Licensing Team** plays a critical role in ensuring that anyone who wishes to operate within the maritime transport system can demonstrate that they have the knowledge, skills and experience to do so safely and without threatening the marine environment. This includes people (such as Seafarers), Vessels (including managing the NZ ship registrar), Surveyors, Operators, and offshore installations.

**Te tunga | The role**

This Wellington based position is responsible for leading and developing a dedicated regulatory licensing team of 6-8 direct reports. You will have had proven success motivating teams to deliver outstanding services / outputs in a regulatory context. You'll ensure the regulatory licensing functions are appropriately fulfilled in accordance with the relevant legislative requirements, providing strong leadership, direction and guidance.

As part of the Regulatory Licensing leadership team you will enjoy working collaboratively with other leaders within Regulatory Operations and our wider Maritime whanau. You will be a confident communicator who thrives in leading teams in a fast paced and dynamic environment.

To be successful in this role you'll have:

- Strong leadership experience, in particular leading and managing a team of specialist service delivery staff preferably in a regulatory agency
- Stakeholder management and building effective relationships both internally and externally
- Strong analytical ability, possessing sound judgement and decision making skills
- Superior service delivery particularly in a regulatory context
- Good understanding of change management
- A genuine desire to develop and grow teams.

Appointing range for the role is $138,655 - $152,520 plus kiwisaver contributions. This is a permanent, full-time role (37.5 hours). Please note you must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand to be considered.
