Social Work Supervisor

**About the Role**:
The Fono is seeking an experienced and committed Social Work Supervisor to provide professional supervision and guidance to Kahu Taurima social workers and kaiawhina. In this pivotal role, you will ensure frontline social work practice aligns with ANZASW standards, Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations, and The Fono’s integrated, family-centred model of care. You will support staff capability, foster critical reflective practice, and uphold service quality to improve outcomes for Pacific, Māori, and all families we serve.
You will provide day-to-day professional leadership, delivering administrative and clinical supervision, mentoring staff, and promoting evidence-based, culturally responsive practice. You will monitor and enhance practice standards through case reviews, reflective sessions, and team learning, contributing to service improvements and ensuring compliance with organisational and professional frameworks. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, external agencies, and community partners to support holistic care for whānau.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver regular professional supervision, mentoring, and reflective practice support to social workers and kaiawhina.- Ensure social work practice meets ethical, legislative, and organisational standards.- Lead quality improvement initiatives and promote culturally grounded, family-centred approaches.- Support staff professional development, learning plans, and team culture. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to enhance service integration.
**About You**:
- Registered Social Worker with current SWRB practising certificate; ANZASW membership preferred.- Approved and experienced social work supervisor compliant with ANZASW Supervision Strategy.- Minimum 5 years frontline social work experience, ideally in Pacific, Māori, child and family, or community health settings.- Strong understanding of Pacific and Māori cultural frameworks, whānau-centred practice, and whanau ora approaches.- Proven leadership experience in multidisciplinary or community services.- Excellent communication, report writing, and relationship-building skills.
