Te Kaunihera aa Takiwaa o Waikato (Waikato District Council) serves the Waikato District which covers more than 400,000 hectares (418.893ha). It borders Hamilton City from the north, east and west. There are 2,422 kilometres of roads which you can travel throughout the district.
Our Head office in Ngaaruawaahia is an open plan hot desking environment, it includes a collab space as well as unique areas to work or meet with colleagues, Waikato River walks and the chance to hit the Hakarimatas on your lunch break. We also have an onsite cafeteria, free parking and work-life balance.
At Te Kaunihera aa Takiwaa o Waikato you will find a welcoming and inclusive workplace that supports, challenges and encourages you to stay continually ahead of the game.
**About this role**:
We have an opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our Technical Delivery team in the EPMO.
The role is about supporting our Project Managers to deliver capital projects for our Open Spaces team such as sports parks, carparks, walkways, boat ramps, sports courts, playgrounds and skateparks. Or for our Facilities team, offices, libraries and community hubs, hall upgrades, and public toilets. Or our Transport team, delivering urban road upgrades, bridge and culvert replacements, and road rehabilitation projects.
**What I do?**
You will work closely with our team of Project Managers to arrange design and consenting, prepare tender documents for construction, be part of the tender evaluation team assessing tenders, award, and manage construction contracts through to completion.
You will add value to the organisation by delivering on our promises to our communities, to deliver the infrastructure they need to live, thrive, and connect.
**What I bring?**
- You have a tertiary degree in engineering.
- You have at least five years' experience in engineering, or three years in an engineering role with complex environments.
- You understand the delivery of infrastructure assets in a Local Government environment, or have delivered Local Government assets in the contracting world.
- You have extensive experience in contract management.
- You are a team player and have great people skills.
**Why join our team?**
We're a flexible working organisation - yes this means you can work from home, but it's also so much more than that, we encourage our people to work in ways that provide the best outcomes rather than measuring success by time spent at a desk.
You have the possibility of working from throughout our beautiful district in a manner that works for you, the business and our communities.
The work could not be more varied. You could be delivering anything from a skate park to a railway station, and everything in between.
