Ko tōu ake mahi - What You'll Do
In this role, you will support the development of strategic public health advice to Ministry managers, government agencies, and Ministers. You will actively contribute to engagement strategies that elevate community wellbeing aspirations, shaping the strategic priorities of the Public Health Agency. Building collaborative relationships will be a focal point, both within the Directorate, Ministry, and the wider health sector, as well as with local government, localities, and cross-agency initiatives.
Your leadership skills will shine as you provide guidance and support to the team, ensuring well-planned projects and effective work planning methods. Mentoring and enhancing the capability of your colleagues will be a crucial aspect of your role. Additionally, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of processes, tools, and frameworks within the team, fostering an environment of growth and excellence.
Building collaborative and positive relationships will be essential to your success, extending across the team, group, Directorate, Ministry, and external stakeholders. Upholding the priority of equity and meeting Treaty obligations will be inherent in all your work.

Ko ngā pukenga ōu - What You'll Bring
- Experience in a health, public or social policy field
- Knowledge and understanding of machinery of government, Cabinet and Parliamentary processes
- An understanding and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations and to improving equity of health outcomes
- Previous successful experience in critical thinking, sound judgement, discretion and proven ability to work under pressure in an environment of ambiguity and complexity
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles
