**_About us/Mō mātou_**

The Vascular Research Unit operates within the Department of General Surgery, the major academic department of the Dunedin School of Medicine, Dunedin campus. Due to the clinical nature of trials undertaken by the Unit, the research team work closely with the SDHB’s surgical Department, providing ongoing support and clinical planning across all aspects of patient care.

Staff in the Research Unit have ongoing working and professional relationships with Health Research South, Study Sponsor’s, and liaise with General Practitioner clinics on a regular basis. The vascular Research Department also forms the hub for a number of investigator-led clinical research projects and maintains working relationships with other Departments of the University.

**_The role/Te mahi_**

As a Clinical Research Nurse (CRN) you will provide research nursing care and high-level administrative support within the vascular Research Unit at the Department of Surgery.

This role gives the opportunity for an excellent work/life balance, with flexible weekday hours working with a small enthusiastic team across all aspects of Clinical Research Nursing. Ongoing professional development, training and post-graduate study supports are available and encouraged.

The main objectives of the role are:

- Co-ordinating and leading commercial studies of investigational medications and therapies, concentrating on patient-led clinical care.
- Liaising with research investigators and co-ordinating enrolment of suitable patients into clinical research projects.
- Effectively communicating with members of the Research Unit team and clinical staff in the SDHB Surgical/ Vascular Department.
- Overseeing patient wellbeing and managing clinical interventions such as Wound Care, IV infusions, recording adverse effects, monitoring medication adherence and
- Ensuring that the regulations governing clinical and research practice are adhered to, including the protocols and guidelines.

**_Skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako_**
- You need to have excellent communication skills with ability to relate to a wide range of stakeholders including patients, relatives, colleagues, doctors, scientists, and administrators.
- Precision and accuracy in data handling and input are a must for this role, as well as demonstrated expert skills in clinical problem solving and assessment.

This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), fixed term (1-year) position, located in Dunedin.

We offer a competitive salary, five weeks’ annual leave, and a 6.75% superannuation scheme.
