**_ Kia ora koutou - Nau mai, haere mai ki Te Whanganui - a - Tara, Wellington_**

Join one of Aotearoa New Zealand - s major tertiary UGI units. We offer a high - volume, hands - on fellowship that bridges the gap to independent consultant practice. We perform a wide range of benign and malignant operations.

- 03 - 4 elective theatre lists
- 01 endoscopy list
- 02 outpatient clinics (benign, malignant & bariatric)

High - volume case mix in 12 months
- 10 - 15 oesophagectomies (totally mínimally invasive)
- 10 - 15 gastrectomies
- 30 complex hiatal/fundoplication procedures
- 30 bariatric operations (primary & revisional)
- 20 - 25 liver resections
- 10 - 15 pancreaticoduodenectomies
- 10 - 15 distal/central pancreatectomies
- 10 splenectomies
- Major complex hernias, acute and elective general surgery
- 200 major cases logged, most being as a primary operator

Structured multidisciplinary programme
- Regional UGI Cancer MDM (weekly)
- Bariatric MDM (weekly)
- Radiology Meeting (weekly)
- Grand Round (weekly)
- Departmental M&M & audit meeting (weekly)

Education and research
- One audit/research project with presentation
- Facilitate weekly registrar teaching, simulation & journal club

Oncall Roster (with consultant backup)
- Once weekly after hours general surgery oncall
- Once every 6 weeks general surgery weekend oncall
- Participating in UGI emergencies is optional, but provides great learning opportunities

**About the Team/Service/ Location**

Team Structure
- ** Consultants**: 5 subspecialist surgeons (OG, HPB & Bariatric)
- ** RMOs**: 2 SET Registrars, 2 Non - training Registrars, 2 House Officers
- ** Allied Health**: 3 Clinical Nurse Specialists (OG & HPB & Bariatric), Dietitian and clinical Psychologist.

Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley district is located centrally in Wellington and has over 6,000 full-time equivalent staff, making us one of the major employers in the Wellington region. We operate three hospitals - Wellington Regional Hospital in Newtown, Hutt Valley Hospital and Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua - as well as the Kāpiti Health Centre at Paraparaumu.

**About you**
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- FRACS or equivalent to be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
- Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
- Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
- Relevant experience and training
