Kick off 2026 as our Head of Professional and Technical Services and lead a high-performing internal consultancy that delivers innovative, efficient, and community-focused capital projects for the Council.
**About the role | Ko te mahi nei**
You will lead and integrate the Council’s in-house technical services, project delivery and programme management teams to ensure the successful planning, design, delivery and quality control of projects for the City. This role ensures alignment with Council’s strategic objectives, infrastructure strategy, and community outcomes, while fostering collaboration and continuous improvement across all delivery units.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide strategic and visionary leadership to build leadership capacity, quality control, and integrated service delivery across programme management, technical services, and project delivery teams.
- Drive operational excellence and innovation to position the team as a trusted in-house partner delivering best-in-class outcomes.
- Improve strategic cohesion, clarify accountability, and support talent development to ensure the organisation meets its infrastructure goals.
- Foster a collaborative and unified culture that promotes teamwork, knowledge sharing, and strong stakeholder engagement across all delivery units.
- Align projects with Council’s strategic objectives to deliver infrastructure outcomes efficiently, consistently, and with a future-focused approach.
**About you | Ko Koe Tēnei**
You have 10+ years of senior leadership experience in the provision of technical services or programme management, with a proven ability to manage complex programmes and lead multi-disciplinary teams. Your strong financial, commercial, and strategic planning skills enable you to deliver value-for-money outcomes while maintaining a clear focus on community impact.
You’re a change leader who thrives on driving performance and building capability. With exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and a collaborative approach, you bring the confidence and credibility to influence at all levels. Your track record shows you can foster innovation, embed continuous improvement, and create a culture where people and projects succeed.
