We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sustainable Buildings Consultant to join our Buildings Specialist Sustainability team. You’ll be involved in a range of Sustainable Development projects across New Zealand and Australia with options for employment location across our North Island centres of excellence in Auckland and Wellington.

Our value-focused approach to sustainability utilises passive design approaches coupled with leading-edge technologies and evidence-based assessments of building performance. You will work closely with clients to understand their needs and then work with our Beca team to put in place plans to exceed our client's objectives.

**Our Buildings Specialist Sustainability Team**

We are an established and experienced sustainability team with a focus on pushing the boundaries of design. We are currently working on a number of net-zero carbon projects, projects targeting world-leading sustainability certification, advising development agencies on how to integrate sustainability into their designs, and undertaking research to help drive New Zealand’s climate change response towards the best de-carbonisation opportunities. We are experiencing significant growth in our services, driven by the Climate Emergency, and are targeting engagements that best support our low carbon future. As a virtual team across multiple locations, we can expose our people to a variety of work and building typologies, with a focus on growing their capability and enhancing the impact they can have on the world.

**About you**

With experience as a sustainability professional, you will be ready for your next career move.

For success in the role, ideally, you will have:

- Tertiary qualified in a related field - Building science, building physics, mechanical services engineering, architecture, or other
- Experience delivering ESD projects including: Developing bespoke sustainability strategies, building physics analysis (skills in IES and similar are an advantage), development of passive design solutions, building life cycle analysis, decarbonisation roadmaps, and green building certification (Green Star/NABERsNZ/LEED/Living Building Challenge etc.)
- Strong client engagement skills - have a passion for working directly with clients and architects offering clear and valued advice which resonates.
- Ability to challenge the status quo and lead others to achieve sustainable outcomes
- Excellent communications skills and someone who thrives working in a team environment
- A passion for sustainability and a motivation to learn better practice in our industry
- Creativity, resourcefulness, intuition and passion for bringing fresh ideas and new solutions to our clients and communities
