Our team culture encourages innovation, we care about your professional development, and you will be working with an elite and motivated team of professionals. **About the Role** - The Council's property portfolio includes a wide range of properties which fill diverse needs for the organisation and the community. The primary activities of the Property Officer role will be to maintain the Council's property portfolio in accordance with legal requirements, Council policy and plans, ensuring that they generate income and improve the provision of service and/or benefit to the community. This is a position of responsibility with an emphasis on administering the Council's property portfolio in accordance with legal and statutory requirements, Council policies and plans and advise Council on requirements, maximising the income potential of leased properties and managing the use of Council land for community benefit. This role will also deliver a range of services to other units including managing processes for easements, acquisitions and disposals. **Do you have what it takes? - **This is a busy role and if you want plenty of variety, this role has it from ensuring that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are followed in relation to all property transactions, leases and licences and reviewing, advising and making recommendations on appropriate clauses and documentation. It will also negotiate and coordinate the acquisition and disposal of Council owned and administered property, in accordance with council policies and provisions of the relevant legislation (including Reserves Act 1977, Local Government Act, and Public Works Act 1981. Other duties include writing and presenting reports and recommendations to management and Council, negotiating and preparing leases and licences for Council owned and administered land and buildings, recreational and not-for-profit groups using Council administered land and reserves. Preparing tender documents and managing tender processes for leased properties is also a requirement of this role. **About You** - You are a talented team player with preferably a Diploma or degree in property related field or New Zealand Law Society Legal Executive. You will have substantial previous experience in property management involving leases and legislation or experience in related area of Local Government with a "can-do" attitude and looking for a career transforming opportunity. The ability to connect and engage with a wide variety of stakeholders, building new relationships is essential and your communication skills will be of a high calibre enabling you to engage with a range of key audiences. You will enjoy taking on new challenges and drawing on your technical expertise to manage complex situations to achieve a successful outcome. Knowledge of various Acts i.e. Reserves Act, Property Law Act, Residential Tenancy Act, Public Works Act and Local Government Act will be advantageous.
