Auckland Council now have an excellent opportunity to join the team as Community Compliance Warden, of the Rodney District. The purpose of this role is to enhance public safety, increase public awareness, support community cohesion, facilitate enhanced environmental outcomes and monitor compliance issues across the Rodney Local Board Area.

**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**
The role has a significant education focus and it is expected you will work with communities and community groups in a proactive and preventative manner to provide education and direction that will encourage compliance with council policy and statutory requirements.

The role will see you ensuring compliance is monitored, alleged breaches are investigated, and enforcement action is pursued.

You will be involved in:

- Increasing public awareness on compliance matters including freedom camping, dogs on beaches, sediment run-off and environmental management (e.g., protection of nesting shorebirds).
- Working closely with Mana whenua within the Rodney District
- Investigating non-compliance and taking appropriate enforcement action
- Undertaking site inspections throughout the Rodney Local Board
- Preparing related reports and correspondence as required

You relate well to people of all ages and backgrounds, are resilient, have a flexible and collaborative approach to your work, excellent communication, along with strong resilience. You will be a self-motivated professional, who shows initiative, can problem solve and has effective time management skills. In addition, you will also have excellent verbal and written communication skills and have strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

To be successful in this role, you will:

- Previous experience in an investigative enforcement position will be looked upon favourably
- Have previous experience within compliance, community related field or within a local authority
- Strong administration skills and computer proficiency
- Hold a current driver’s licence.
