The Department of Psychology at the University of Otago (Te Tari Whakamātau Hinekaro, Te Whare Wānanga o Otāgo) offers a three-year clinical psychology training programme with an emphasis on the scientist-practitioner model. Well-established links exist with the health-related services in the community and the Otago School of Medicine. The Department supports research programmes in several areas, including clinical, cognitive, developmental, health, social, and applied psychology, as well as neuroscience. The Department has demonstrated excellence in teaching with an emphasis on the development of student research skills, and thus the ability to attract and supervise student researchers is critical for any applicant. The Department of Psychology is also home to the world-famous Dunedin Multidisciplinary Health and Development Study, Brain Research NZ - Rangahau Roro Aotearoa, and the National Centre for Lifecourse Research, which foster connections within the University and across New Zealand.
**_ The role/Te mahi_**
- Responsibilities include:
- Contributing to the research activities of the Department, including publishing in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, obtaining external funding support, and supervising research students.
- Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, including developing new course content and teaching materials, participating in collaborative teaching activities, and assessing student performance.
- Contributing to the effective and efficient administration of the Department and its responsibilities within the University and wider community.
**_ Skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako_**
- A PhD in Psychology, with research expertise in any area of clinical psychology. Expertise in the areas of adult clinical intervention and/or neuropsychology would be particular strengths.
- Outstanding record of research and teaching, or demonstrated potential for development of such.
- Commitment to rigour, ethics, and cultural safety in research and teaching as well as collegiality and respect for diversity.
- Commitment to the bicultural emphasis of clinical psychology training in Aotearoa/New Zealand as well as to the University’s Māori Strategic Framework and Pacific Strategic Framework, or willingness to develop this firm commitment.

This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), permanent position, located in Dunedin.

The salary for this position ranges from $87,152 to $103,550 per year.
