**About the role**:
Due to an internal transfer, we are looking for a Data Engineering Manager to join our team based in Auckland.
This role is pivotal in executing Gallagher Insurance NZ’s data strategy to maximise value, foster innovation, and achieve strategic organisational goals. Leading a skilled technical team, the position is responsible for implementing and maintaining Gallagher Insurance NZ’s data environment and delivering data solutions using best practice methodologies and design thinking principles. By building and optimising data pipelines, this role ensures the Data Analytics team can perform deeper analysis and reporting, empowering the organisation to make data-driven decisions that enhance business outcomes.

Foster strong relationships with business and technology managers, executives, and senior leadership to ensure technical data requirements align with business objectives.
- ** Team Leadership**:
Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the Data Engineering Team, including setting goals, delegating tasks, monitoring performance, and reporting metrics.
- ** Data Strategy Execution**:
Implement and operationalise comprehensive, end-to-end data strategies that support key business initiatives.
- ** Technology Adoption**:
Stay informed on emerging technology trends and ensure the adoption of innovative solutions where beneficial.
- ** Values Alignment**:
Demonstrate Gallagher’s core values and commitment to its mission: to position clients to financially survive any insurable event, through actions and decisions.

Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the data architecture meets both current and future business needs.

Optimise, integrate, troubleshoot, and provide operational support for the Data & Analytics platform.
- ** Solution Delivery**:
Deliver innovative solutions based on user needs analysis by reviewing current systems and accurately implementing database requirements, structure, functional capabilities, security, and recovery specifications.
- ** Capability Building**:
**Skills and Experience**:
- Proven experience in roles such as Data Leader, Data Architect, Data Engineer, or Data Analyst.
- Strong expertise in dimensional modeling and familiarity with existing and emerging data modeling methodologies.
- Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft BI technology stack, including SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, SQL Server (2019+), and Power BI.
- Exceptional numeracy, analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise effectively.
- A BSc in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts in a clear and accessible manner.
- Experience in training and coaching team members.
- Proficiency in data programming languages such as Python and R.
- Hands-on experience with modern data platforms and tools, including Snowflake, Collibra, and CluedIn, to enhance data governance, integration, and management.
