As one of Government's larger regulators, the Regulatory Services Group at Te Tari Taiwhenua (Department of Internal Affairs) aims to be at the forefront of regulatory excellence so that iwi, hāpu and communities across New Zealand are safe, resilient, and thriving. What does that look like? It means our Gambling team focuses on keeping the gambling system safe and well-managed and reducing gambling-related harms.

We’re looking for a top-notch Senior Product Owner for one of our Gambling systems, who has:

- A passion for improving our digital systems; someone with a sharp eye for how things can be improved and the tenacity to see this through from an idea to business-as-usual support and continuous improvement.
- Thoughtful consideration of work to make sure that we get done first what matters most, balancing competing priorities like making things easier for regulators, enhancing system performance and implementing improvements, and changes to fix incidents and reduce business risk.
- Strong relationship management skills with vendors and other stakeholders. This includes the desire to get alongside our vendors and maintain collaborative relationships; getting to know our internal business experts, what they do and how the system helps them; understanding our tech team; and getting up to speed with ‘how we get things done’ within Te Tari Taiwhenua.
- Can develop strategy about digital change in a way that everyone can understand and get excited about, and produce a compelling, comprehensive product roadmap,
- A can-do attitude: a track record of delivery whilst juggling competing priorities and an organised way of managing work including letting others know when things change.

You’ll be joining a team excited about using digital systems to innovate and improve our regulatory work. We also provide assurance that our digital systems are being well-managed, and risks are tracked and addressed. Our team is professional and driven in our work, but we also support one another and like to have some fun too. This is a role that may suit a Project Manager or Senior Business Analyst looking for a change.
