**About us**
Te Hiringa Mahara - Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission is a Kaitiaki of mental health and wellbeing, leading improved mental health and wellbeing outcomes towards people in Aotearoa thriving together.
We have leadership and system level oversight roles of the mental health and addiction system with monitoring, reporting, advocacy, and engagement functions.

**About the role**
The Principal Advisor plays a key role in our monitoring and system improvement work. This includes leading specific monitoring, insights and advocacy projects, and writing reports and submissions.
**The role also provides oversight and support of the Mental Health and Addiction work programme, which includes**:
- promoting alignment and coordination of the mental health and addiction sector
- assessment, monitoring, and reporting on mental health and addiction services
- advocating for improvement of services and the sector
- advocating for the collective interests of people with lived experience of mental distress or addiction (or both), and the people, family, and whanau who support them.
**Skills and experience**
We are looking for someone with significant experience in health and/or mental health policy, strategy, planning or research. Ideally, some of your experience will be within the mental health and addiction sector and you will have an understanding of service commissioning and service delivery.
You will be able to demonstrate leading pieces of complex work that show you have strong critical thinking skills, significant research experience, and advanced writing skills.

**Salary**
The midpoint of the salary range is $143,170 and the full range (90%-110%) is $128,153 - $157,487. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
