Te Puni Kōkiri is the government's principal policy advisor on Māori wellbeing and development. We achieve strategic influence with a focus on providing high quality policy advice and holding other agencies to account for delivering public services to, for, and with Māori. This includes our mandate to promote Māori achievement in education, training, health and economic resource development along with performing our monitoring and mentoring roles.
As part of a small, agile team the Senior Advisor, Property & Facilities is responsible for ensuring our buildings are fit for purpose and our people, assets and information are kept safe. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior advisor to dive into a significant maintenance work programme and property movements across the national property portfolio. This includes the responsibility of an assigned property portfolio, overseeing all aspects of each building from contract management, minor projects, general repairs and maintenance oversight, point of escalation, asset management and physical security while maintaining strong relationships with our regional kaimahi.
**Te whai wāhitanga | The opportunity**
Reporting to the Manager, Property and Facilities, the Senior Advisor can engage with people at all levels of internal and external organisations and work effectively both individually and as part of a team environment. Responsibilities include:
- Providing support to the Manager, Property & Facilities across a range of key tasks, reporting and deliverables
- Overseeing leases as both head tenant and sub tenant, rent reviews and rights of renewals with the Ministry's landlords or agents
- Ensuring health and safety requirements are adhered too across the portfolio
- Supporting the vehicle fleet management function
- Working closely with other puni business partners including finance, focusing on appropriate forecasting and supporting the manager with property costs
- Coordinating office moves/relocations as required
- Procurement of goods and services as required
- Ensuring our physical security systems and processes are implemented and maintained across the motu.
**Mōu | About you**
- Relevant qualification(s) in Property Services, Asset or Facilities Management, or equal experience commensurate with the requirements of the role as outlined in the position description
- A high level of integrity and confidentiality
- Senior experience in a medium to large organisation with experience managing a property portfolio
- Highly developed technology skills, with the ability to learn and pick up new systems and processes at pace. Highly skilled user of technology, and ability to learn and pick up new systems and processes quickly
- The ability to communicate with a diverse range of audiences, both internal and external using effective communications and engagement strategies
- Basic understanding of government processes including internal governance and approvals
- An eye for detail in writing and reviewing memos, internal policies for board considerations, and budget and project approvals
- Working understanding of physical security systems with the Protective Security Requirements Framework. Implementing processes, monitoring and managing risk.
