Auckland Council’s Infrastructure & Environmental Services division has an exciting opportunity for a WasteWise Advisor (Engagement) to join the Waste Solutions team

Be the face of Waste Solutions

This is an exciting Permanent Part Time opportunity to get a foot in to our Waste Solutions Department.

Please note: This is a permanent part-time role for 20 hours per week. You will mainly have the same shifts as agreed upon with your Team Leader, but must remain flexible to attend occasional field based events etc that may take place on a weekend day or have an earlier start than initially agreed upon. You will however not exceed the 20 hours in total when/if this happens.

This is a role that would see you providing advisory services to the community through face-to-face engagement activities in a field-based role. It’s an amazing opportunity to create a real difference in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland).

You will help develop and deliver local waste minimisation solutions in the community, with a particular focus on culturally and linguistically diverse communities. A large part of the role will be to engage with communities and implement face-to-face outreach programmes to support the introduction of these new waste minimisation services.

**Day-to-day you can expect to work on**:

- Engaging with communities from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and working in non-English speaking environments
- Proactively organising local canvassing like displays at markets and malls, street intercepts, community open days, etc.
- Recording and analysing field data for programme design input
- Role model and mentor community champions

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

We will be looking for at least 3 years’ experience in a similar position, with a strong customer service ethic and a sense of personal ownership and responsibility. You’ll also need an understanding of the Zero Waste concept and the impact of waste on the environment.

You will be confident building relationships and working with members of the community, ideally with some familiarity working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities. We would love to see examples of times when you’ve partnered with others to achieve community outcomes.
