Our People and Capability team has an opportunity for a talented Director to join our senior leadership team. You'll lead a large team of professionals that deliver on regional priorities, plans and operations
- empowering them to achieve their best.
The People and Capability team support a nationwide diverse team of 10,000 people working in a range of disciplines including custody, community corrections, psychology, nursing and corporate. Our job is to enable them to achieve Hokai Rangi through the 24/7 services we deliver.
Key to success in this role will be developing the Northern Region's strategy and plan to align with Department of Corrections, Ara Poutama Aotearoa's overarching strategy, Hōkai Rangi. The kaimahi you lead will be incredibly diverse with expertise spanning operational performance, capability development, practice support, leadership development, inclusion & diversity, recruitment, change, business partnering and employment relations.
The Director People & Capability will collaborate closely with Senior Leadership team members to ensure the Northern Region has an inclusive and diverse workplace culture and an engaged, agile and supported workforce.

You are a purpose-driven senior leader who takes a people-centric approach to all that you do. You connect deeply with Department of Corrections, Ara Poutama Aotearoa's core values and identify as a confident thought leader who can drive cultural capability and high performance.
Your career has seen you gain senior experience in driving organisational change, developing and implementing people systems and leading out strategy. You're passionate about influencing and leading good practice and being a key leader in a modern People & Capability function.
This role is based in our Northern Region. Ideally, you will be based in the region with the ability to travel frequently for hui and collaboration.

**You will bring the following in your kete**:

- Advanced relationship management skills, including conflict management, and the ability to encourage and lead co-operative efforts taking account of strategic goals, pressures and priorities
- Strong cultural capability and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups of people
- A tertiary qualification in a field like Commerce or HR, or equivalent professional experience

Utu ā-tau | Salary
The salary band for this role (85%-120%) is $160,758 - $226,953. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
