**About the role**
The NZBS Blood Bank based at Christchurch Hospital is an exciting and fast paced environment, often responding immediately in emergency situations for patients in need. What makes this role different to other technician roles is at the end of the day, you know that you have been directly involved in someone's care.
As a **Medical Laboratory Technician **you will be responsible for performing a range of duties related to pre transfusion, antenatal and diagnostic testing and the issue of blood and blood products for clinical purposes. You will be joining a well-established team of Scientists and Technicians committed to quality service, high standards and patient wellbeing.
Salary starting from $51,805 to $61,273 depending on registration, skills and experience.
**About you**
To be successful in this role you must be registered as a Medical Laboratory Technician with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand. You will have a positive attitude, be committed to patient care and have the flexibility to fully participate in our 24-hour, 7-day roster. The ability to multi-task, work collaboratively and respond quickly in a fast-paced environment is essential in this role and key to your success as part of this high performing team.
**We are looking for someone who has/is**:
- Experience working in a Blood bank would be preferred, but not essential
- Flexibility to fully participate in our 24-hour, 7-day per week roster
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Positive attitude
- Self-motivated
- Ability to take responsibility
