**Job Description**:
**Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role**

As Senior Legal Counsel you will provide legal services to business units across Contact, with a focus on renewable energy development projects. You will provide robust and pragmatic advice and be a trusted advisor to help the business to achieve its goals.
- Legal support to projects, including driving the achievement of timeframes, milestones and outcomes.
- Assistance with complex problem solving and implementation of practical steps to address legal issues raised.
- Develop and leads relationships with key stakeholders.
- Negotiation, drafting and review of key contracts.
- Liaising with and monitoring external lawyers, as required.
- Upskilling members of business units in relevant areas (e.g. training seminars, use of contract templates).
- Professional development of Legal Counsel, including supervising work of and mentoring Legal Counsel from time to time.

**Qualifications**:
**Tā mātou e kimi nei? - What are we looking for?**

This position will require a broad set of skills and experience. We are motivated to read about your real-world and proven legal experience (especially if you have experience in construction or property law). Here’s some other stuff we’d like to see:

- Experience in the drafting and review of contracts.
- Strong understanding of the commercial drivers and strategy of Contact and the ability to work effectively with the business to help Contact achieve its objectives.
- Ability to manage own workload and prioritise matters in a way that is consistent with Contact’s strategic priorities and the value/risk to Contact.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to provide concise, plain-English advice on complex matters.
