**About this role |Mō tēnei tūranga**

The Performance Monitors will build strong relationships with Charter Schools to enable them to gather timely and comprehensive data and intelligence. They will identify innovative and effective practice that is making a difference and bring together quantitative and qualitative information to provide clear reporting. They will act as a critical friend, ensuring Charter Schools can effectively navigate government services.

They will use their insights on performance to anticipate, identify and resolve problems, as well as brokering relationships between Charter Schools, and across the education sector to share good practice. They will also recommend to the Authorisation Board any interventions required to ensure Charter Schools are delivering improvements to student achievement.

**About you | Mōhou ake**

To be successful in this role you will have the following experience and capabilities:

- The ability to develop clear and perceptive reports on performance using a combination of qualitative and quantitative evidence.
- Experience in developing and delivering measurement frameworks and methodologies to monitor performance, ideally in the education sector.
- A track record of excellent customer service and dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
- Proven experience developing and managing stakeholder relationships, with the confidence to escalate risks and implement mitigations.
- Ability to work in a high-paced, agile environment with the ability to think on your feet.
- Knowledge of the education sector, Charter Schools, and the roles of the Ministry of Education, NZQA and ERO in supporting the operation of schools in the compulsory sector.
- The ability to anticipate, identify and resolve problems in an innovative manner.
- Demonstrate initiative and a high degree of professional independence and self-discipline, remaining calm under pressure.
- The ability to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

**About our Agency | Mātau rōpū ake**

The Charter School Agency is a departmental agency established on 1 July 2024 to implement and operate the new charter school model, including negotiating, managing contracts, and delivering funding. The Charter School Agency supports the Authorisation Board to approve charter schools, monitor their performance and hold them to account. The first charter schools will open from Term 1 2025.
