We are looking for Kiwifruit Pickers and Orchard workers.

Ongoing requirement.

**Job Tasks**:

- Winter Pruning and Tie Down.
- Execute Summer Pruning to remove excessive vegetation from the vine during the growing season.
- Pruning of male vines to keep the vines compact so that they do not shade the female vines or cause tangles.
- Tipping non-terminating shoots in the fruiting canopy.
- Removing vigorous excess canes.
- Removing shaded canes or spurs.
- Removing canes growing back over the leader.
- Zero Leaf Pruning. Pruning selected fruiting shoots just above the last fruit on a lateral so that there are no axillary buds from which secondary re-growth and develop.
- Tip Squeezing. Damaging the growing tip of actively growing shoots that would otherwise not self-terminate in order to prevent the shoots extending past a manageable length.
- Selection of high-quality replacement cane and spring and removal of poor-quality growth.
- Bud Thinning. Removing defective buds before they develop into flowers to conserve plant carbohydrates.
- Fruit Thinning. Removing defected fruits to ensure allocation of carbohydrates to high quality fruit.
- Trunk Girdling in order to increase dry matter, increase fruit weight, increase the number of flowers the following season and to reduce competition for carbohydrates.
- Fruit thinning.
- Removing low value fruit.
- Adjust fruit load per shoot to obtain minimum leaf.
- Removal of lateral fruits
- Remove more fruit from heavily shaded parts of the vine.
- Orchard Maintenance Tasks such as shoot thinning, Bud Thinning, End Shoot, Flower Picking, Leader Work, Summer Work, String Job, Cane Training, Male Pruning, Male Trimming.
- Fruit Picking during harvesting season. Picking fruit off the vines, placing them in the buckets, emptying the buckets into fruit bins.
- Other tasks as required.

Other Details:
Payrate: $22/hour or more

Location : Bay of Plenty

Type: Casual, Fixed term, Permanent, Partime, On call. All options available.
