Our Governance and Ministerial Services (GMS) team plays a crucial role providing timely, expert advice and support to IR and the Minister’s office. GMS manages Inland Revenue’s requests for official information, supports executive-level governance and reviews written communication for the Minister to ensure it meets IR’s and the Minister’s standards.

**Mō te tūnga | About the role**

This role is responsible for providing advice and support to our Executive Level Governance forums. So what does that actually mean?
- We work closely with each of the Chairs to ensure the agendas reflect the purpose of the governance forum and consider the key organisational topics and decisions to drive the right outcomes
- We provide professional and credible advice to key stakeholders to ensure the forums are having the right conversations at the right time to make informed decisions
- We liaise with key stakeholders providing material to the governance forums to make sure they are providing the right information, the information meets our quality standards, and it reflects our organisation’s strategic direction
- We meet regularly with others from across the business to understand what is coming up and ensure it is reflected in our agenda planning for the meetings
- We attend each meeting to hear the conversations and capture the key decisions and actions in the minutes
- We make sure our Executive Level Governance System is well integrated, connected and working effectively, providing advice where we can see changes could be made

To do well in the role you will:

- Build excellent relationships with our Executive Leadership Team and our senior leaders across the business, in order to provide professional and credible advice.
- Articulate complex ideas succinctly both verbally and in a written format
- Think strategically and ‘join the dots’
- Work autonomously and effectively manage and prioritise competing demands
- Be self-motivated and proactive
- Have high levels of integrity and superb attention to detail.

Having an understanding of governance concepts and practices in large organisations will be an advantage.

This really is a great role. You get to see how an organisation operates at a strategic level and how decisions are made at the Executive Level. You will see how all the pieces fit together, while working with our Executive Leadership Team and senior managers.
