**About the organisation**
New Zealand Blood Service(NZBS), is a specialty provider of blood, plasma, tissue, and organ donation, as well as specialist clinical services for the whole of New Zealand.
The Clinical team consists of a group of experts including Medical Specialists, Nurse Specialists, Specialty Scientists, project managers, and administrators, who provide expertise and support for the clinical functions, Clinical Governance and service provision.
The Clinical team promotes organisational clinical governance, clinical best practice, the maintenance of standards, supports safety and the development of quality initiatives and innovation to support service delivery.
Our shared values are at the heart of NZBS culture and guide our behaviour each and every day. They inspire, motivate, and drive us to provide the very best service to the New Zealand public.
**About the role**
The Nursing Development Lead role is an exciting new national role at NZBS and has been developed to support the Chief Nurse to deliver new programmes of work to strengthen the nursing voice at clinical governance and promote clinically safe practice by identification and management of clinical risk.
The role will support the Chief Nurse to introduce nursing pre-registration and post registration students in key areas across the country and work towards developing a NZBS Nursing Entry to Practice programme that promotes a 'grow our own' nursing workforce. There will be a requirement to work with universities and tertiary institutes and develop opportunities for learning that supports the academic curriculum. Coordination with the Nurse Education Manager, Transfusion Nurse Specialist team, Charge Nurses and Transformation team will be required to build broad, positive, effective, clinical learning experiences for students at NZBS.
The established Professional Development Recognition programme (PDRP) at NZBS needs a refresh, and this role provides the opportunity to improve compliance by focusing and streamlining processes, as well as managing, coordinating, promoting, motivating, and supporting nurses through to successful completion of portfolios.
There will be further projects to support quality processes and continuous quality improvement initiatives and you will be required to work collaboratively with other nurse leaders and the multidisciplinary team, to deliver changes that promote the highest standards of care and donor/patient experience.
New models of care will be explored to support Nurses and Qualified Donor Technicians at NZBS to work to top of scope of practice, as well as supporting service delivery, and includes new senior nursing roles in therapeutic apheresis and therapeutic venesection.
**About you**
We are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, registered nurse who is passionate about contemporary professional nursing and has some experience in project management and change management.
You must be keen to help us further develop the service, and enthusiastic about extending your own skills. You will be a self-starter and able to work calmly under pressure, be flexible and adaptable to emerging needs, and to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of different people as well as health professionals throughout New Zealand.
Excellent organisational and critical thinking skills are essential, experience in leadership, teaching, use of data to inform, and writing skills are valued advantages.
If you would like to discuss the requirements of the role further, please feel free to contact Jacqui Wynne-Jones on 027 228 5858.
The NZ Blood Service is part of the Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021 (Health Order) effective on 25 October 2021 requiring employees to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. It is therefore a condition of employment that you are vaccinated against Covid-19. The vaccine is to keep you safe and also to endeavour to protect others against the potential transmission of Covid-19.
