Are you passionate and excited about developing collections that inspire and engage our diverse customers? Join Auckland Council Libraries as a Senior Librarian for our Collection Development team. The Collection Development team is responsible for developing the current use collections of Auckland Council Libraries in all formats, to align with the principles in our Collection Development Policy.

We have two roles available, both are permanent positions:
1 x 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

1 x 32 hours per week, days to be discussed

Both with flexible working arrangements available. These roles are both based at Auckland Central Library.

Day to day your responsibilities will look like:

- Provide effective contract and supplier relationship management.
- Actively contribute to team planning, developing new and innovative collections in response to customers’ changing expectations.
- Day-to day management of either the serials OR graphics collections.
- Day-to-day portfolio responsibilities for either staff collections training OR finance and budget monitoring.
- All Collection Development team members develop generalist knowledge of all our print and digital collections.
- All Collection Development team members assist with collection promotion, data, reporting, policy writing, selection and online resources.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

We are looking for a collaborative team player who can demonstrate the following:

- Tertiary degree in library and information studies or similar
- Be a registered LIANZA professional
- 4+ years’ experience in collections work in a large library or equivalent environment.
- Proven experience of relationship building skills.
- Experience in financial/budget management **OR** Experience in staff training.
- Knowledge of collection development best practices and related work processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with data to inform decision-making.
- Experience in monitoring and evaluating collections using a wide range of tools.
- Curiosity about emerging trends in publishing and libraries and how these might relate to collection development.
