Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
Contribute to the transformation of health by being a part of the National Screening Unit which is responsible for the national leadership of three important cancer screening programmes (breast, cervical and bowel cancers), two newborn screening programmes (hearing and metabolic conditions) and one antenatal quality initiative. You will be part of a close, driven and supportive team that is committed to ‘helping make screening programmes better' by providing leadership and technical support for the on-going monitoring and evaluation of these programmes.
We have 2 Senior Analyst positions available. One focused on cancer screening programmes and the other focused on newborn screening programmes and antenatal quality initiatives. As a member of the analytical team, you will form a close working relationship with the screening programme teams and support them to improve outcomes with regular monitoring and reporting, as well as being involved in a range of interesting projects. Work closely with a team that includes senior analysts and public health medicine specialists, while providing opportunity for further development and extension of your skills.
Mōu | About you
In this role you will use your technical skills to extract and summarise data from a number of different databases. Use your analytical skills to identify ways to investigate issues and answer questions from the available data.
You'll have experience analysing health data and be skilled in translating data into information. Your analytical expertise will enable you to rapidly learn how to extract and manipulate data from our various data sources and give meaning to the numbers.

**You will have**:

- Experience using R, SQL and SAS EG and familiarity with using presentation tools like R Shiny and Power BI
- Strong statistical analysis and interpretation skills, proven ability to analyse data to produce meaningful, fit for purpose information
- Experienced in producing reports to a publishable standard with strong written and oral communication skills
- A tertiary qualification in statistics, data management, data analytics, epidemiology or other relevant field or equivalent experience
- Able to write and talk about technical issues clearly and concisely to non-technical people in plain English
- A keen eye for detail and passion for delivering a quality product
- Able to manage internal and external relationships
- Familiarity and background in screening or public health desirable
