Wellington City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

The Ministry acts in the world to build a safer, more prosperous and more sustainable future for New Zealanders.

Kia hangai ake e te Manatu he ao-haumaru, ao-tonui, ao-pumau, ki te oranga tonutanga mo Aotearoa whanui.
- Deliver a customer focused approach to business groups across MFAT
- We offer flexible hours and working arrangements where possible
- 12 months fixed term, Wellington based

Join our collaborative Financial Services team providing a range of accounting services, supporting our people here in Aotearoa and at posts and embassies worldwide

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

We are a small but committed and supportive team, valued for the work we do because we are known for building strong relationships and always questioning how we can do things better - for us and for the people we support, both in Aoteroa and across 62 locations around the world.

**Banking Officer**:
As a Banking Officer within our Finance Division based in Wellington, you will be responsible for managing both the domestic and off-shore bank accounts that are controlled from Wellington. Plus you will be responsible for delivering accounts payable, expense management and accounts receivable. This includes the interfaces between financial systems, and ensuring data integrity and compliance to organisational policy and relevant legislation.

We would love to hear from you if you have experience in AP and AR as well as foreign currency transactions - both forward exchange contracts and spot rated transactions

**Typical responsibilities include**:

- Process foreign currency and domestic payment files into online banking systems for cross border and domestic payments
- Manage the opening of new offshore bank accounts
- Arrange monthly foreign currency requirements based on budgets annual cash forecasts
- Financial management of the Aid programme system for both FX and NZD
- End to end AP and/or AR
- Managing of new and replacement credit cards
- Manage expense management system with FMIS and balance sheet clearing accounts
- Liaising with stakeholders

For more detail you can view a copy of the position description here

**Finance Coordinator**: We are also taking Expressions of Interest for a Finance Coordinator
As a member of our lovely team you’ll notice that the work we do is a bit different from a typical accounts payable or accounts receivable position - because not only will you deliver accounts payable and accounts receivable systems and processes, you’ll also be responsible for credit card administration and administering our expense management system.
In addition, you will assist banking officers to process foreign currency invoices and funding requests into our finance system.
We use multiple systems that you probably haven’t come across before - but we have a ‘buddy system’ and can provide lots of on the job training - so as long as you already have some finance experience e.g. in an accounts payable, accounts receivable or ‘finance allrounder’ role we will be able to get you up to speed before you know it.
Our team agrees however that the most important aspect of this role is making sure we have a customer focused approach in everything we do - so we hope that you are someone that agrees with this too
We would love to hear from you if you experience in either accounts payable, accounts receivable or credit card administration

**Salary range**: The appointment range for both of these roles are $61,691 to midpoint $68,546 including employer contribution to Kiwisaver - negotiable depending on experience.

Mā‎ wai te mahi nei? - Who are we looking for?

You don’t need experience in Governent or in large corportate organisations to be considered for these roles. We will help you figure out how things work around here and we will show you how to use our systems but you will need to be organised, details focussed and happy to turn your hand to anything.
- Your ability to work effectively with colleagues, but also to think independently and work autonomously when required
- Your ability to quickly learn new systems
- A strong focus to detail particularly related to data and information management
- An interest in continuous improvement

Ideally you will also have a good understanding of tikanga (Māori customs and protocols), with the ability to weave te ao Māori (the Māori worldview) into your work.

Ngā hua o te mahi i te Manatū Aorere - Why MFAT?

We are committed to a focus on leadership, talent, training and development, and flexible work options. Check out our benefits page to find out more about why we love working here.
