Our team includes Development and Alumni Relations personnel and a range of staff to support them to connect and engage with alumni and donors.

**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

Your role will be to develop and implement a coordinated, integrated and enduring Individual Giving Programme with the primary goal of increasing alumni participation and retention rates to increase philanthropic funds and build a pipeline of donors for major giving. The role includes the identification, cultivation, solicitation and management of our donor journey.

The University’s alumni network encompasses over 220,000 graduates spread across the Auckland region, throughout New Zealand, and around the globe.

You will spend the majority of your time running our regular campaigns. There are usually around three campaigns a year which involve the designing of the campaigns, writing of copy, marketing activities, coordinating with internal and external resources and ensuring that your projects are running on time and within budget.

You’ll also manage a Telephone Appeal Coordinator who is responsible for the operational management of our phone appeals which are staffed by a team of student callers and at peak times, will involve an extensive amount of recruitment activities and procedures.

When you are not running the operations of your campaigns and acting as a key point of contact for your team and the other teams within ARD, you will be involved in developing future strategies and plans for your area.

**Some key responsibilities include**:

- Lead the strategic development, planning, execution and evaluation of the fundraising appeals, including telephone appeals, with the aim of increasing donor numbers and building a pipeline to mid-level and major gifts.
- Manage the Annual Giving operations to ensure effective and efficient delivery of the programme.
- Provide exceptional donor care in a donor journey programme for annual giving donors.
- Analysing and interpreting data to improve effectiveness and support decisions.
- Managing the annual giving budget

**He kōrero mōu | About you**

We’re looking for a high performing fundraiser with people management and hiring experience. Ideally, with demonstrable experience in direct mail fundraising campaigns and phone appeals, including confidence in creating and writing direct mail messages.

High-level communication ability is essential, with verbal, written and interpersonal skills integral to success in this role. We are hoping to find someone with an innovative approach and the confidence to bring fresh ideas into the University.

- Experience as a fundraiser, ideally within individual giving campaign management.
- A background in marketing and communications.
- Experience of managing a small team or managing another manager.
- Ability to work independently, handle multiple assignments, organise workflow, and meet deadlines.
- General knowledge of philosophical and practical bases of fundraising research methods.
- Strong copywriting skills.
