**Join the team**:
An amazing opportunity exists for an inspiring, versatile, and commercially savvy leader to take the reins of our retail operations business in New Zealand. As the most senior leader in the country, holding a directorship, and reporting to the General Manager - Stores & Central Operations in Australia, the role of Country Manager - New Zealand oversees a network of 26 Kmart stores, with 4 direct reports (3 Zone Managers and an Assistant) and over 2,000 team members. The role also partners closely with core local and Australian based support teams.

**What you’ll be doing**:
At the heart of this role is devising and executing effective strategies to optimise sales growth, customer experience, team engagement, safety performance and business productivity. To do this, the key accountabilities include:

- Create, champion, and oversee the delivery of compelling business plans and strategic initiatives in line with Kmart’s strategic plan, that ensure sustainable business growth in the New Zealand market.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain a contemporary and in-depth understanding of market trends, risks, and competitor landscape to adjust strategy as required, leverage new business opportunities, and preserve or accelerate business advantage.
- Build, inspire and nurture a high-performance team culture where strategic purpose is clear, customer experience is core, and talent is unleashed, engaged, and recognised.
- Establish and cultivate effective business partnerships with internal and external local and Australian based stakeholders to facilitate, promote and drive optimal business performance and brand reputation.

**To be successful in this role you’ll have**:

- Demonstrable retail operations leadership experience and knowledge, working in a high volume, fast-paced, multi-site retail environment.
- Proven experience in optimising and enhancing capability across large teams to deliver exceptional customer, safety, compliance, and financial results.
- Track record of success in developing and implementing strategic initiatives drawing on your strong commercial acumen and sound retail operations prowess.
- Results-oriented and solutions-focused with experience in managing a large P & L and driving sustainable improvement across key performance metrics.
- An engaging, passionate and ‘no ego’ leadership style with deft collaboration, influencing and communication capability.
- Experience and track record in influencing and negotiating with key business decision makers.
- A proven track record of recruiting, developing and leading high performing retail teams and individuals in geographically dispersed locations.
- A positive change agent, with demonstrated results in continually evaluating and championing innovation.
