As a Data Engineer specialising in data infrastructure, you will play a crucial role in designing, constructing, and enhancing our data pipeline and analytics architecture. Your focus will be on ensuring the efficiency and scalability of our data ecosystem, contributing to informed business decisions. This is an onsite role, based in central Auckland, where your collaboration with data analysts, software engineers, and other stakeholders will be pivotal in maintaining data availability, quality, and reliability.

**Responsibilities**:
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, ETL processes, and data integration workflows to our company's data infrastructure.
- Collaborate with data analysts to comprehend data requirements and translate them into efficient data models and structures.
- Optimize data warehouse performance through fine-tuning queries, indexing, and partitioning strategies.
- Ensure data quality and accuracy by implementing data validation, cleansing, and transformation processes.
- Implement and maintain security protocols, access controls, and data encryption within our data infrastructure.
- Monitor system health and performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary solutions.
- Stay updated with the latest industry practices, and proactively suggest improvements to the data architecture.
- Document technical specifications, data lineage, and workflow diagrams.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer.
- Expertise in data architecture, design, and performance optimization within our company's infrastructure.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, database design, and data modelling concepts.
- Hands-on experience with ETL tools and data integration techniques.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and data warehousing concepts.
- Ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction and transformation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Strong communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications would be a definite advantage.
The role is open to those currently living in NZ with eligible work visa.
