National Sales Manager

Waipapa Pine Limited (WPL) is a thriving sawmill operation, with a sites in Waipapa and Whangarei which produce a range of sawn timber products, including industrial and structural grades and a renewable fuels business. The company has just been acquired by Fletcher Building and there is now a strategy in place to drive significant growth opportunities. To facilitate this strategy we need to recruit a highly experienced and effective Sales Manager.
**About the role**:
- Reporting to the General Manager of Fletcher Wood Products (FWP), this sales leadership role steps into the shoes of one of the previous owners of WPL. This position requires a dynamic individual who possesses a strong background in the industry, exceptional business and financial acumen, and the ability to inspire and motivate a team towards achieving company objectives. This key leadership role will be responsible for ensuring the national sales strategies and activities are enhancing WPL and market share is maintained and grown, value and price are optimised and the overall WPL is meeting all agreed budgets, targets and strategic objectives. The role overseas all aspects of sales, customer development and service, as well as overseeing the dispatch team and service delivery activities to obtain the maximum efficiency, quality, service and profitability for the organisation in order to achieve sales targets.
- Drive the growth of the business to its full potential through effective relationship building at a senior level
- Manage significant contracts with transport providers
- Manage sales, customer service and despatch team to achieve weekly/monthly targets
- Manage, direct and monitor the overall performance of the team and ensure positive safety outcomes
- Lead and develop the national sales team, fostering a high performance culture of customer service and performance growth.
- Manage and maintain a high level of excellent relationship within sales channels, including owner/operators and merchants, as well as within senior levels of the Fletcher Building Wood Products division.
- Interact and co-operate with all members of the organisation, its suppliers and customers
**About you**:
- Management degree or similar
- At least ten years proven professional sales and leadership experience
- Experience in building products and NZ builders merchant channel preferred
- Alignment to Fletcher Building and WPL vision and values
- Conceptual thinking
- Numerical reasoning
- Attention to detail
- Proven customer/supplier relationship management and negotiation skills
- High degree of integrity and honesty in all dealings
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
