**About the team**

The New Zealand Defence Force spend every hour of every day, 365 days a year contributing to the defence, security and well-being of Aotearoa.

The role of the Internal Audit | Arotake ā-roto team is to provide independent, meaningful, and insightful assurance services to the organisation. As a partner across the organisation they add real value, going beyond compliance to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and work proactively to help manage risk.

In this team your work will touch on many aspects of what the NZDF is about - from camps and bases, overseas posts, governance systems, through to the provisioning of health services, and the management of complex logístical and supply chain arrangements.

**Mō te tūnga | About the role**

Reporting to the Principal Audit Manager, as one of two Senior Internal Auditors, you will work as part of the wider team of five within Principal Audit to deliver advisory and internal audit services across NZDF.

In this role you will get to:

- Lead, plan and deliver high-quality assurance engagements
- Provide contribution to the development of the annual audit work plan
- Be a champion for continuous improvement of internal controls across NZDF
- Coach, support and develop growing professionals.

The right person for this role will offer:

- A relevant tertiary qualification, at Bachelor level
- Experience in an audit/assurance, or business advisory role
- The communication skills and confidence to lead engagements. To be a trusted expert advisor with senior stakeholders
- Confidence and comfort working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects
- An interest and passion for coaching and developing others
- Membership of a relevant membership body is preferred.
